  5.     Talk about unwanted food additives! Here are just two recent
  6. examples:

  8.     -- Three weeks ago, a woman in Maine discovered a black
  9. widow crawling in her grapes. Since then, at least eight more
  10. of the poisonous arachnids have turned up in Southern California
  11. grapes shipped to New England, and both the Stop & Shop and Shop
  12. 'n Save supermarket chains have pulled the affected fruit off
  13. the shelves.

  15.     -- Last week Heinz U.S.A. announced that it has recalled
  16. 12,000 cases of its strained vegetable-and-ham baby food after
  17. the discovery of bits of rubber in several jars. The company
  18. said the recall began about three weeks ago but was not
  19. announced publicly because the little black specks were
  20. harmless. Spokesman Harry Carroll said the particles "may have
  21. come in with one of the ingredients" but did not alter the
  22. product's "food grade."
